Australian Embassy Provides Funds for the Victims of the Earthquake in Peru

The donation is of AUD 60,000 (approximately US$ 50,000) from the Direct Aid Program (DAP) and was channelled through World Vision Peru. This is a Christian NGO for development and humanitarian aid for children, families and communities, intended to reduce poverty and injustice. WV is also committed to undertake emergency relief efforts in situations such as in Peru. The funds received from the Australian Embassy will go to the people of the Ica Department, and include purified water, food and small electric generators. Ambassador Conroy noted that “the close links that connect Australia and Peru within several international forums, including APEC, make it an imperative for our Government to join this aid effort and work with one of our partners in the Pacific”.
