Vacancy 1: Political, Economic, Communications and Public Diplomacy Team Intern - Open
We are recruiting an intern to join the Australian Embassy’s Political, Economic, Communications and Public Diplomacy team from 17 March to 18 July 2025. This will be an opportunity to get broad experience across the Embassy’s policy and public diplomacy work. Under general direction, the successful applicant will help in the preparation and implementation of Embassy public diplomacy events, prepare briefings and reports, monitor the press and support the Australian Embassy’s social media engagement.

Salary: Meal and transport allowance of CLP188,325 per month.

Eligibility
To be eligible to work at the Australian Embassy in Santiago de Chile, the successful applicant will require:
- A clean police background check (Certificado de Antecedentes in Spanish);
- Demonstrate that you have health insurance;
- If a non-Chilean national, a valid work permit/visa; and
- Successfully complete the Embassy Probity Check and sign a Declaration of Secrecy statement.
NOTE: The Embassy will not be able to assist applicants to secure a visa beyond providing an offer of employment. Applicants from Australia are encouraged to apply though the Embassy will not cover relocation costs. This is a short-term role only.

Vacancy 2: Visa Processing Officer - Open
The Home Affairs office at the Australian Embassy, Santiago plays a critical role in achieving the Department’s broader strategic goals. Its primary functions are to process Australian visas for clients across the Americas and to identify and investigate fraud and prevent criminal exploitation of the migration program.
Position Information
Classification: LE3
Salary: CLP 1,474,039 per month (Plus CLP 188,325 meal/transport allowance)
Section: Department of Home Affairs
Reports to: Senior Migration Officer
Key responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, tasks and duties outlined in the position description. The successful candidate will be fluent in English and expected to work flexibly under the direction of A-based managers in the Home Affairs Office Santiago.
