Renewing or Applying for a Passport

- Gather original documents and two passport photos
Make sure you gather all the documents required and follow the Australian photo guidelines
- Ask someone to be a guarantor
The guarantor can be an Australian citizen, or a non-Australian citizen with a profession on the List of accepted guarantors, that has known the applicant for at least 12 months.

- Lodge your application

- Book an appointment with the embassy
- Make sure you have all your required documentation with you for the appointment. Incomplete applications or with missing documents, will not be accepted or processed.

Passport renewal
- post your application form and relevant documentation, including passport photos to the Embassy in Santiago
- email the Honorary Consulate [email protected] to confirm that your application has posted.

New passport
- email the Honorary Consulate [email protected] to book an appointment
- Make sure you have all your required documentation with you for the appointment. Incomplete applications or with missing documents, will not be accepted or processed.
- Pay the relevant fees

- The embassy will notify you when your passport is ready (for collection or postage) by email.
NOTE: Please allow a minumum of six weeks to get a new passport or renew one.

Emergency Passport
If you require emergency passport services or urgent consular services, please email [email protected] and mark it as “EMERGENCY PASSPORT REQUIRED” in the email subject line to assist us to prioritise queries.
Visiting the Embassy Office
- You must have an appointment to visit our Embassy office.
- Please do not bring friends or family members to your appointment. If you are applying for a child passport, both parents are welcome to attend.
- Please arrive as close to your appointment time as possible. Security arrangements at some locations do not allow you to enter the building prior to your appointment time.
